Renovated Hunting Lodge in Brezik: Supporting Tourism Growth in the Loznica Region

October 21, 2025

The Hunting Lodge in Brezik has been officially reopened following a complete renovation, becoming a new gathering place for nature enthusiasts and an important boost to the development of rural tourism in the Loznica area. With financial support from our company, the Gučevo Hunting Association from Loznica carried out extensive reconstruction works on the building and surrounding infrastructure, enabling the Association to generate additional income from tourism services alongside membership fees.

Over the past five years, Rio Tinto has donated more than €160,000 to support the Association’s activities - from purchasing equipment and expanding the pheasantry to building a temporary shelter for European red deer. These initiatives promote sustainable development and help protect nature and biodiversity in the Loznica region. Our joint effort to adapt the facility for tourism has turned the Hunting Association into a local hub for community gatherings, education, and recreation - a welcoming place for everyone who values the nature and traditions of the Loznica area.

We are particularly proud to have supported the development of the pheasantry, which now includes modern facilities for breeding pheasants - from egg incubation to their release into the wild. As part of the Ministry of Agriculture’s European red deer repopulation program, the company also helped build a fenced quarantine area where the animals are kept for up to six months before being released into the hunting grounds.

“Through our support for projects like this, we aim to strengthen Loznica’s tourism and environmental potential, while protecting nature and promoting rural development. Partnerships like these demonstrate how tradition, responsible management, and progress can go hand in hand to benefit communities and improve quality of life”, said Chad Blewitt, Jadar Project Director.
